Because the 19-20 spring sport season was canceled and not completed, conference champions in any sport shall NOT be named nor crowned and the CCCAA Cup will not be awarded for 2019- 20.
-
The CCCAA is granting flexibility to the sports to determine their championship host sites in 20- 21, including regionals. If there is a rotation in the championship handbook, which dictates the host college and/or conference by a particular year, the 19-20 host site may host in 20-21 and the years will be adjusted accordingly. We ask that the athletic directors, coaches and commissioner of the 19-20 hosts work with George Mategakis, the Management Council Representative for the sport and the leadership of the coaches association to determine host sites for 20-21. If a 20-21 host site has already been determined, the athletic directors, coaches and commissioner of the 20-21 hosts must be included in the discussion.

The waivers that were issued during the 19-20 academic year for men’s and women’s basketball have been extended for the 20-21 academic year.
o Men’s and Women’s Basketball - the shot clock will not be reset to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound. This became moot with the adoption of P-33.
o Men’s Basketball - the three-point line will not be moved. Will be in effect for 21-22 without legislation or intervention due to the pandemic.
-
Several deadlines have been extended (Form T, Final Financial Statements) and others will be considered and determined on a case by case basis. If there is a deadline approaching, be sure to ask if it has been extended or not.

Legislation that was to be voted on at the Convention was handled via Presto the week of May 11.

The Form 3 was modified to capture those spring 2020 student-athletes who were “Not in Good Standing” along with the normal season of competition information. Once the Commissioners complete their two-step process the system will show whether a student-athlete’s season of competition was restored or not.
News from other Governing Bodies
• Division II, Division III, and the NAIA have all indicated that they will honor the waivers of other governing bodies where we have restored the season of competition for spring sport-student- athletes.
o Division I is requiring that their institutions submit waivers on behalf of such student- athletes, as such things are handled by the Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee.
o The other nuance that we’re currently dealing with is for our swimming and diving student-athletes. The sport is considered a winter sport for the NCAA and the NAIA and currently, only the NAIA is accepting our waiver. The NCAA is advising that such student-athletes would have to go through the waiver process, but it is on the list to be reviewed.
o Division II has stated that they will honor other governing bodies’ decisions regarding seasons of competition waivers or 10 semesters/15 quarter rules in spring 2020. Our waiver only speaks to the season of competition. We don’t have rules that deal with the number of full-time terms, so we don’t have anything to waive in that regard.
If we had a rule that allowed our student-athletes to use their 2 seasons of competition at our level in six full-time terms and we said that spring 2020 didn’t count towards those six, then D2 would honor it. Because we don’t have any such rules, we can’t waive spring 2020 from counting for our student- athletes.
