Freshman forward Helen Elizalde had an outstanding performance in last week's matches, scoring three of the team's four goals and adding an assist. Her play led the Eagles to two victories, defeating Victor Valley College 2-1 and Norco College 2-0. Elizalde scored both goals against Victor Valley and provided an assist against Norco. With a current record of 2-2 in conference and 6-4-5 overall, the Eagles are in third place. Elizalde has played in seven matches this season, contributing five goals and one assist.
Manaia Mamea | San Bernardino Valley College | Women’s Volleyball
Manaia Mamea had a solid week, leading the Wolverines to a victory against Victor Valley College with 16 kills, a .342 hitting percentage, and 11 digs. She followed that with an impressive performance against Chaffey College, recording 13 kills on 23 swings with only one error for a .566 hitting percentage, along with 10 digs. Mamea's play has been instrumental in the Wolverines' 11-6 overall record, keeping them within striking distance of Mt. San Jacinto College for the conference lead.
Head coach Robert Vansant praises Mamea, stating, "Manaia is a true leader on the court, with the ability to take over the match at any point. Her game has reached new heights, and she continues to lead the team with her unwavering determination to excel."
Brooklyn Jiminez | Mt. San Jacinto College | Women’s Volleyball
Libero Brooklyn Jimenez has made a significant impact on the Mt. San Jacinto College women's volleyball program. Currently ranked #1 in the conference in digs, Jimenez's defensive play has helped with the team's success. Head coach Sarinna Eason praises Jimenez's work ethic and contributions, stating, "Brooklyn is one of the hardest working athletes I've ever coached. Her relentless effort on defense fuels our team."
Kylie Wilbanks | Norco College | Women’s Soccer
Freshman defender Kylie Wilbanks played a pivotal role in Norco College's 1-1 draw against Chaffey College. Wilbanks, a Ruben S. Ayala High School graduate, not only anchored the defense but also scored the tying goal, securing the program's best result to date against one of the top women's soccer programs in the state. Head coach Drew Rea has been impressed with Wilbanks' development, noting, "Kylie has grown as a player and is developing her skill sets that will allow her to get to a four-year level. Her pace, power, and composure on the ball have made her one of the top defenders in the league."
