My name is Dr. Timi Brown, and I have been actively involved in college athletics as a head women’s basketball coach, instructor and administrator at various institutions for over twenty-five years. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Arizona where I was a scholarship student-athlete with women's basketball. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology in 1991, and left the U of A as its all-time leading scorer in women's basketball history. Upon graduation, I began my coaching career as a head basketball coach at San Pasqual High School in San Diego, California, where we won two southern section conference championships. After earning a master's degree in athletic administration from the University of Northern Colorado, I pursued my dream of becoming a college basketball coach. I served as an assistant coach at various community colleges for four years; and obtained my first head coaching position at Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, California. My first season at MPC produced a southern section Coast conference championship as well as the conference player of the year.

In 2001, I became the Head Women's Basketball Coach and assisted the Athletic Director at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas. My teams at OC were highly competitive, and in 2003-04 went 25-5, winning the Western Junior Athletic Conference title. Many of the players from 2001-2004 graduated with academic honors, as well as earned all-conference and ultimately received scholarships to Division I and II institutions. After leaving OC in 2004 I was named the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado, where we played in the highly competitive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. My teams were not only successful on the court, but in the classroom as well, achieving a team 3.0 GPA in all five years. While at Mesa State I coached a Freshman of the Year, Player of the Year, All-conference players and academic All-Americans.  Over five successful seasons at Mesa State College, I decided to pursue my doctorate degree in higher education. I returned to the community college level where I coached and performed athletic administrative duties at Glendale College in Glendale, AZ. While at GCC, my teams were highly competitive, achieved success in the classroom, and multiple players successfully transferred to four-year institutions; one player is currently playing professionally in Europe.

In 2014, I earned my doctorate in higher education leadership after completing my dissertation on student-athlete academic support services. Over the last twenty years I have been teaching, developing certificates and writing curriculum in sports management, intercollegiate athletics and leadership, student-athlete development, coaching theory, exercise testing and prescription and athletic sociology, at a variety of institutions. In addition to my education, I am a nationally certified strength and conditioning coach, health and fitness instructor and distance education instructor.
