GRISSO AND TILTON JOURNEY ONWARD

GRISSO AND TILTON JOURNEY ONWARD

Congratulations to 2022 Panther baseballers Marty Grisso and Tyler Tilton on their recent transfer announcements.  Marty has committed to Division II Southern Weslyean in South Carolina and Tilton will attend Hope International (NAIA).

The pair are the 6th and 7th transfers to come out of the 2022 team so far.  Head Coach Andy Smith weighed in, "We are extremely excited for both of these guys! They both have strong competitive mindsets that will lead to their success at the next level."

Tilton, a right-handed pitcher out of East Redlands was a member of the 2021 team whose season was cut short by the COVID lockdown.  In his time at Chaffey, Tilton pitched in 19 games.  "Tyler has been a passionate and vocal leader for us that brings a ton of energy and charisma to the field everyday. He wants the ball in big moments, and his confidence will be a weapon for him against a very good hitting league that is the GSAC. I'm glad to see him going to a national championship-contending program like HIU."

Grisso, a one season Panther from Etiwanda, staffed the outfield.  In his 62 appearances at the plate he had 21 hits and 14 runs including two homers.  "Marty's story is pretty unique and very cool. He took a year off from playing after he graduated in 2019, earning his EMT certification. During the COVID shutdown period between 2020-2021, he decided he wanted to give baseball another go. He slowly worked his way from making the team, to making the spring roster, to being a consistent contributor and starter for us. He is a perfect example of dedication and persistence and I'm glad to see how much that has paid off for him."
