Panther soccer brings home a W from VVC

The Panthers grabbed another decisive win for the season defeating Victor Valley College 5-1 yesterday in IEAC play.

Against the Rams, the Panthers put up a sole goal by Vanessa Aviles in the first half to take the teams into the break 1-0.

In the second period, VVC scored off a penalty kick but was quickly answered back off another Aviles goal.  Scoring continued for the Panthers through the final period of play with Julia Galdamez and Sydney Cotter scoring an additional three to give the Panthers the IEAC win.

"We had a slow start but overall we were able to break through to pull out the 5-1 win," said head Coach Grace Cooper. "A few players were integral in taking over the game. Vanessa Aviles and Isis Medina really showed their ability to take over games. We also had freshman Sydney Cotter score two amazing goals."

The team remains undefeated this season and is now 2-0 in conference play.  IEAC action continues at home Friday against Mt San Jacinto at 4pm.

"We look forward to playing Mt. San Jacinto on Friday who are currently 7-3-1. It's our youth soccer night and pink game so we hope to make it a fun game and play well for our home crowd!"
