PANTHERS FINISH SEASON AT STATE FINAL FOUR

PANTHERS FINISH SEASON AT STATE FINAL FOUR

The end of another tremendous season came yesterday afternoon as the Panthers took on Folsom Lake in the 3C2A Final Four.  This was Chaffey's 2nd consecutive trip to the Women's Soccer state finals.

The Panthers entered the race as the #1 seed in the south, defeating Mt San Jacinto, College of the Canyons, and Santa Barbara on their way to the 2023 Final Four.  In the top spot for the south, Chaffey was pitted up against the north's #2 Folsom Lake College (16-3-4).

Against the Falcons, Chaffey scored early off a Chelsea Bowen (Leslie Adalpe assist) shot and it looked like the Panthers would advance to the final round with a 1-0 shutout until a last minutes shot by the Falcons forund the back of the net to tie the game and throw the teams into overtime.

After two overtime periods, it would be the Falcons that would emerge with the win and the opportunity to play once more.  Jessica Collins defended the net for the entire game with five saves.

Friday's loss was only the 2nd for the Panthers all season (21-2-3).  FLC was only the 3rd team to score against Chaffey all season (Saddleback and Long Beach).

Chaffey's Grace Cooper was honored as state coach of the year for the second consecutive year.
